Und der HERR sprach zu Mose: Komm herauf zu mir auf den Berg und bleib daselbst, daß ich dir gebe steinerne Tafeln und Gesetze und Gebote, die ich geschrieben habe, die du sie lehren sollst. (2. Mose 31.18) 13 Da machte sich Mose auf mit seinem Diener Josua und stieg auf den Berg Gottes 14 und sprach zu den Ältesten: Bleib et hier, bis wir wieder zu euch kommen. Siehe, Aaron und Hur sind bei euch; hat jemand eine Sache, der komme vor dieselben.
15 Da nun Mose auf den Berg kam, bedeckte eine Wolke den Berg, 16 und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN wohnte auf dem Berge Sinai und deckte ihn mit der Wolke sechs Tage, und er rief Mose am siebenten Tage aus der Wolke. (2. Mose 16.10) 17 Und das Ansehen der Herrlichkeit des HERRN war wie ein verzehrendes Feuer auf der Spitze des Berges vor den Kindern Israel. (5. Mose 4.24) (5. Mose 9.3) (Hebräer 12.29) 18 Und Mose ging mitten in die Wolke und stieg auf den Berg und blieb auf dem Berg vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte. (2. Mose 34.28) 
Die Bundeslade
10 Macht eine Lade aus Akazien holz; dritt halb Ellen soll die Länge sein, anderthalb Ellen die Breite und anderthalb Ellen die Höhe. 11 Du sollst sie mit Gold überziehen inwendig und auswendig und mache einen goldenen Kranz oben umher. 12 Und gieße vier goldene Ringe und mache sie an ihr vier Ecken, also dass zwei Ringe seien auf einer Seite und zwei auf der andern Seite. 13 Und mache Stangen von Akazien holz und überziehe sie mit Gold 14 und stecke sie in die Ringe an der Lade Seiten, dass man sie damit trage; 15 sie sollen in den Ringen bleiben und nicht herausgetan werden. 16 Und sollst in die Lade das Zeugnis legen, das ich dir geben werde. (2. Mose 25.21)
17 Du sollst auch einen Gnadenstuhl machen von feinem Golde; dritte halb Ellen soll seine Länge sein und anderthalb Ellen seine Breite. (Hebräer 4.16) 18 Und du sollst zwei Cherubim machen von getriebenem Golde zu beiden Enden des Gnadenstuhls, 19 das ein Cherub sei an diesem Ende, der andere an dem andern Ende, und also zwei Cherubim seien an des Gnadenstuhls Enden. 20 Und die Cherubim sollen ihr Flügel ausbreiten von oben her, dass sie mit ihren Flügeln den Gnadenstuhl bedecken und eines jeglichen Antlitz, gegen das des andern stehe; und ihre Antlitze sollen auf den Gnadenstuhl sehen. 21 Und sollst den Gnadenstuhl oben auf die Lade tun und in die Lade das Zeugnis legen, das ich dir geben werde. (2. Mose 34.29) (1. Könige 8.9) (Hebräer 9.4) 22 Von dem Ort will ich mich dir bezeugen und mit dir reden, nämlich von dem Gnadenstuhl zwischen den zwei Cherubim, der auf der Lade des Zeugnisses ist, alles, was ich dir gebieten will an die Kinder Israel. (4. Mose 7.89) 
14 Und Salomo baute das Haus und vollendete es. 15 Er baute die Wände des Hauses inwendig mit Brettern von Zedern; von des Hauses Boden bis an die Decke täfelte er es mit Holz inwendig, und den Boden des Hauses täfelte er mit Tannenbrettern. 16 Und er baute von der hintern Seite des Hauses an zwanzig Ellen mit zedernen Brettern vom Boden bis an die Decke und baute also inwendig den Chor, das Allerheiligste. 17 Aber das Haus des Tempels (vor dem Chor) war vierzig Ellen lang. 18 Inwendig war das ganze Haus eitel Zedern mit gedrehten Knoten und Blumenwerk, daß man keinen Stein sah. 19 Aber den Chor bereitete er inwendig im Haus, daß man die Lade des Bundes des HERRN dahin täte. 20 Und vor dem Chor, der zwanzig Ellen lang, zwanzig Ellen weit und zwanzig Ellen hoch war und überzogen mit lauterem Gold, täfelte er den Altar mit Zedern. 21 Und Salomo überzog das Haus inwendig mit lauterem Golde und zog goldene Riegel vor dem Chor her, den er mit Gold überzogen hatte, 22 also daß das ganze Haus ganz mit Gold überzogen war; dazu auch den ganzen Altar vor dem Chor überzog er mit Gold.
23 Er machte auch im Chor zwei Cherubim, zehn Ellen hoch, von Ölbaumholz. (2. Mose 37.7-9) 24 Fünf Ellen hatte ein Flügel eines jeglichen Cherubs, daß zehn Ellen waren vom Ende seines einen Flügels zum Ende des andern Flügels. 25 Also hatte der andere Cherub auch zehn Ellen, und war einerlei Maß und einerlei Gestalt beider Cherubim; 26 auch war ein jeglicher Cherub zehn Ellen hoch. 27 Und er tat die Cherubim inwendig ins Haus. Und die Cherubim breiteten ihre Flügel aus, daß eines Flügel rührte an diese Wand und des andern Cherubs Flügel rührte an die andere Wand; aber mitten im Hause rührte ein Flügel an den andern. 28 Und er überzog die Cherubim mit Gold.
29 Und an allen Wänden des Hauses um und um ließ er Schnitzwerk machen von ausgehöhlten Cherubim, Palmen und Blumenwerk inwendig und auswendig. 30 Auch überzog er den Boden des Hauses mit goldenen Blechen inwendig und auswendig. 31 Und am Eingang des Chors machte er zwei Türen von Ölbaumholz mit fünfeckigen Pfosten 32 und ließ Schnitzwerk darauf machen von Cherubim, Palmen und Blumenwerk und überzog sie mit goldenen Blechen. 33 Also machte er auch im Eingang des Tempels viereckige Pfosten von Ölbaumholz 34 und zwei Türen von Tannenholz, daß eine jegliche Tür zwei Blatt hatte aneinander hangen in ihren Angeln, 35 und machte Schnitzwerk darauf von Cherubim, Palmen und Blumenwerk und überzog es mit Gold, genau wie es eingegraben war. 36 Und er baute auch den inneren Hof von drei Reihen behauener Steine und von einer Reihe zederner Balken.
37 Im vierten Jahr, im Monat Siv, ward der Grund gelegt am Hause des HERRN, (1. Könige 6.1) 38 und im elften Jahr, im Monat Bul (das ist der achte Monat), ward das Haus bereitet, wie es sein sollte, daß sie sieben Jahre daran bauten. 
21 Man findet auch in den Schriften, dass der Prophet Jeremia denen, die weggeführt wurden, geboten habe, sie sollten vom Feuer etwas verstecken, wie oben berichtet,
2 und dass er ihnen das Gesetz mitgegeben und befohlen habe, sie sollten die Gebote des Herrn ja nicht vergessen und sich nicht verführen lassen, wenn sie die goldenen und silbernen Götzen und ihren Schmuck sehen würden;
3 und er habe ihnen noch anderes dieser Art gesagt und sie ermahnt, sie sollten das Gesetz nicht aus ihrem Herzen lassen.
4 Auch stand in derselben Schrift, der Prophet habe auf göttlichen Befehl hin geboten, die Stiftshütte und die Bundeslade sollten mit ihm kommen,
5 als er auszog an den Berg, auf den Mose gestiegen war und von dem aus er das Erbland des Herrn gesehen hatte. Als Jeremia dorthin kam, fand er eine Höhle; darin versteckte er die Stiftshütte und die Lade und den Räucheraltar und verschloss den Eingang.
6 Aber einige Männer, die ihm nachgegangen waren, traten hinzu und wollten sich an dem Zugang ein Zeichen machen; sie konnten ihn aber nicht finden.
7 Als das Jeremia erfuhr, tadelte er sie und sagte: Diese Stätte soll kein Mensch kennen, bis Gott sein Volk wieder zusammenbringen und ihm gnädig sein wird.
8 Dann wird der Herr dies alles wieder ans Licht bringen; und dann wird die Herrlichkeit des Herrn und die Wolke erscheinen, wie sie sich zu Moses Zeiten gezeigt hat und damals, als Salomo bat, dass die Stätte über die Maßen geheiligt würde.
9 In dieser Schrift wird auch erzählt, wie weise Salomo gewesen ist und wie er zur Einweihung und Vollendung des Tempels geopfert hat.
10 Und ebenso, wie Mose den Herrn gebeten hatte und Feuer vom Himmel fiel und die Opfer verzehrte, so betete auch Salomo und das Feuer fiel herab und verzehrte die Brandopfer.
11 Und Mose sagte, das Sündopfer sei vom Feuer verzehrt worden, weil man’s nicht gegessen habe.
12 Ebenso hat auch Salomo die acht Tage gefeiert.
13 Das alles findet man auch in den Schriften und den Denkwürdigkeiten, die zu Nehemias Zeiten geschrieben worden sind; ferner, wie Nehemia die Bücher über die Könige und Propheten, auch die von David und die Briefe der Könige über Weihgeschenke zusammengebracht und eine Bibliothek eingerichtet hat.
14 Ebenso hat aber auch Judas die Bücher, die verloren gegangen waren, weil Kriege im Lande gewesen sind, alle wieder zusammengebracht;
15 und wir haben sie hier. Solltet ihr sie also brauchen, so lasst sie bei uns holen!
16 Weil wir nun die Tempelreinigung begehen wollen, schreiben wir es euch hiermit; ihr werdet also gut daran tun, die Tage auch zu begehen.
17 Wir hoffen aber zu Gott, der seinem ganzen Volk geholfen und allen das Erbe verliehen hat, nämlich das Königtum und das Priestertum und die Heiligkeit,
18 wie er’s im Gesetz verheißen hat: er wolle sich unser bald erbarmen und uns aus der weiten Welt an den heiligen Ort wieder zusammenbringen,
19 wie er uns ja bereits aus großem Unglück errettet und die heilige Stätte gereinigt hat.
