In den letzten Tagen hat sich das Klima plötzlich verändert. Hoffen wir, dass es nur eine Eiszeit ist, die ein paar Tage dauern kann denn Kälte und Schnee muss es geben, um das Getreide keimen zu lassen. Ich weiß ist nicht lustig aber viele Menschen denken und glauben dass Kälte Viren tötet, aber es ist leider nicht so.
Kälte, Schnee, zerstören keine Viren und Bakterien, im Gegenteil, viele von ihnen überleben besser in der Kälte als bei Raumtemperatur. Aus diesem Grund werden sie in Forschungslabors bei Temperaturen zwischen 15 und der Absolut Null, das entspricht 273,15 Grad Celsius, circa, gelagert. Kälte verhindert jedoch, dass sich Viren und Bakterien vermehren, so funktioniert auch die Lagerung von Lebensmitteln im Kühlschrank: „Kälte blockiert die Vermehrung von Mikroorganismen, die für die Verschlechterung von Lebensmitteln verantwortlich sind.“ Für andere Organismen ist die Kälte tödlich, weil das Wasser der Zellen, gefrierend, im Volumen wächst und die empfindliche Zellmembran bricht. Bakterien und Viren mit einem sehr hohen Innendruck haben robuste Zellwände, die auch der Volumenzunahme durch Einfrieren widerstehen.
