Die Clovis-Kultur ist möglicherweise in Folge eines Kometeneinschlages vor etwa 13.000 Jahren ausgestorben. Durch den Einschlag entstanden riesige Brände in ganz Nordamerika, die zu einem abrupten Ende der Clovis-Kultur führten.
